NoteTune ("we," "us," or "our") operates the NoteTune mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App.
By using NoteTune, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we automatically collect certain information:
- Anonymous Authentication Data: We use Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create a unique identifier for your device. No personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number is required to use the App.
- Usage Analytics: We collect anonymized usage data through Firebase Analytics, including app launch frequency, feature usage patterns, and general interaction data. This helps us understand how the App is used and improve the experience.
- Crash Reports: We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash logs and diagnostic data to identify and fix technical issues. This may include device model, operating system version, and app state at the time of a crash.
1.2 Information You Provide
- Voice Recordings: When you use the recording feature, audio is captured and stored locally on your device. Your recordings are also securely backed up to our cloud storage (Firebase Cloud Storage, operated by Google Cloud) to enable data preservation. Audio files are stored in association with your anonymous user identifier.
- Transcribed Text: Your voice recordings are transcribed into text using Apple's Speech Framework, which primarily processes audio on your device. In some cases, Apple may send audio data to its servers to improve transcription accuracy, subject to Apple's own privacy policy. The raw transcript is then stored in our cloud database (Google Cloud Firestore) associated with your anonymous user identifier.
- Rewritten Text: When you use the AI rewrite feature, your transcribed text is sent to Google's Gemini API (via Vertex AI) for processing. Google may process this text on its servers to generate the rewritten output. The AI-generated results are stored in our cloud database. Please refer to Google's data processing terms for details on how Google handles data sent to its AI services.
- Notes and Notebooks: Any notes, notebooks, and related metadata (such as titles, timestamps, and rewrite history) you create are stored in our cloud database.
1.3 Subscription Information
If you subscribe to NoteTune Pro, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment details (credit card numbers, billing address, etc.). We only receive confirmation of your subscription status through RevenueCat, our subscription management service.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the App's core functionality (recording, transcription, AI rewriting, and note storage)
- Process your text through AI models to deliver rewrite features
